Every
year, since 1968, on the occasion of the celebrations in honour
of St. Benedict patron saint of Europe, born in Norcia in the V
century, a torchlight procession is organized. The procession starts
every year from a different city in Europe and arrives in Norcia
in the evening of March 20th. This initiative wants to strengthen

Benedictine
Celebrations
|
On
March, 21, to recall the imposing ceremonies of the past, an historic
pageant and the offer of a banner take place. A fascinating and
faithful historic reconstruction shows the old ceremonies that took
place when the representatives of the Castles around Norcia and
of the neigh boroughs of the town ("Guaite") came as pilgrims.

"Li
Fauni"
|
The
Christian tradition dates back this festival to 1291, in the night
when Our Lady Madonna’s home was transported by angels from Nazareth
to Loreto. Every year, on December 9th, at midnight, bells ring
and in every square of Norcia high stacks of broom are burn to warm
up people and to… show the angels the safest route.
